We are a non-profit social service agency serving all of West Virginia.
O.U.R. House has chosen to target their services to adult females coming out of correctional institutions and substance abuse treatment facilities because they are the segment that are in the most of need of the services. These women have nowhere and no one else to turn to due to factors such as recent incarceration, abusive relationships, alcohol and drug dependencies and exposure/participation of prostitution. They are in desperate need of transitional living as well as life skills to empower them to self-sufficiency.
O.U.R. House has chosen to serve only women because there are many more alternative housings facilities in the state designated to serve men only.
This organization was founded by community volunteers who are now the strong Board of Trustees. Our board members ensure that OUR House’s mission is carried out to its best and full potential.
We are a volunteer-based organization focused on helping make our community a better, happier place. With the help of our tireless staff, we organize fundraisers, exciting community-building events, and in-depth training sessions for our volunteers to participate in. Women in recovery are in desperate need of more housing and have limited resources to access the help they need to fulfil their needs to obtain long-term sobriety.
